Salem Senators Put WI League Lead at Stake In Series With Chiefs
The Western International league leading Salem Senators hit the road in the Inland Empire this week where they will stake their scant game and a half lead over Wenatchee.
The Senators play second-place Wenatchee Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at the Apple City, then continue to Spokane to windup the week with the rehabilitated Indians.
The tail-end Victoria Athletics figure in the shuffle, opening with three games at Spokane, then replacing Salem as opposition for Wenatchee the rest of the week.
The Tacoma Tigers will make a bid for third place in a home-and-home series with the Bremerton Bluejackets. They open with a trio at Bremerton, then finish the seven-game feud in Tacoma. The Jackets are two and a half games ahead of the Tigers.
Vancouver will be Entertaining Yakima in the other series, a seven-game affair north of the border. Yakima is four games ahead of the seventh place Canadians.

Victoria Vs Vancouver?
[Victoria Colonist, July 24, 1946]
Tentative arrangements have been made for a post-season series between the two Canadian clubs—Vancouver and Victoria—in the Western International Baseball League, Reg Patterson, business manager of the Athletics, announced last night.
No play-off has been carded in the league and the series would be a fitting climax to a successful baseball season, in which the two Canadian clubs seem doomed to be at, or near, the bottom of the standings despite their improved play in recent weeks.
Plans are also under way for a benefit game for the Spokane fund with the strong House of David nine providing the opposition for the Athletics.

Fitzgerald Through For Season
WENATCHEE [TSN, July 31]—Big John Fitzgerald, pitcher of the Wenatchee Chiefs of the Western International League, who recently strained his arm, was ordered by his physician to give up pitching for the year.
