VICTORIA, Aug. 3—The Victoria Athletics and Spokane Indians ended all square in their four-game series when they split a pair of contests Saturday, the A's batting out a 1-6 triumph in the afternoon and the Indians taking the night game 11-6.
Tony Musgrave, making his A's debut, gave up a pair on unearned runs in the first inning when Ed Murphy dropped a fly ball, but had a two-hitter going into the sixth. He gave up four hits and four runs before Joe Blankenship came in to pitch the rest of the way.
Pete Hughes, Frank Cirimele and Vic Buccola all homered in the eighth inning.
Hughes, Bill Dunn and Bob Paulson all hit solo shots in the second game for Victoria, but an eight-run fourth inning for Spokane sewed up the game. The tallies came on six hits, two bases on ball's and Dunn's error to hand Jim Carpenter the loss and Joe Faria the win.
