BREMERTON, Aug. 5—Third Baseman Ray Orteig hammered three home runs and two singles in five times at bat to spark Vancouver to an 8 to 2 Western International League victory over Bremerton's second-place Bluejackets Monday night.
Orteig's feat was combined with a four-hit pitching performance by Bob Snyder, tall right-hander, with half the hits being homers.
Orteig's first two homers came with the bases empty, then cleared the centre field fence with a three-shot in the ninth, his 14th home run of the year.
The night boosted his batting average to .378, third-best in the league behind Woody Salmon and Glen Stetter.
Bill Barisoff (with his 29th) and Bill Reese (his 23rd) knocked the ball out of the park for Bremerton.
It was the fourth loss in five starts for Beak Federmeyer, who has won 17 games for Bremerton.
