Rainiers Send Ed Carnett To Pilot Vancouver Team
SEATTLE, June 28—Ed Carnett, Seattle outfielder, will be the new playing manager of Vancouver's Western International league baseball team.
Roscoe (Torchy) Torrance, Seattle vice president, said Friday night Carnett would be sent to the Capilanos to succeed Sylvester Johnson, who recently resigned as manager. He will play first base, a position he has at times filled for Seattle in a relief role. Torrance said the transfer would be subject to recall.
He said Carnett is expected to join Vancouver Monday. A left-hander, Carnett has a Pacific Coast League batting average of .228 for the season.
