WENATCHEE, May 27 — The Wenatchee Chiefs defeated the Victoria Athletics 11 to 5 here Monday night to wind up their ten-game series with Wenatchee winning nine. It was a productive series for the Chiefs that saw them rise from fourth place in Western International league standings when the series began May 20 until now they are at the top of the standings.
Jim Warner, Ernie Bertoletti, and Ed Fitzgerald hit homers for Wenatchee in the third inning to send Bob Jensen, the only pitcher who beat the Chiefs this year, and that twice, to the showers. Curt Schmidt and Warner homered in the eighth off Rudy Biale, who relieved Jensen.
