SALEM [Vancouver News-Herald, May 29]—Vancouver Capilanos’ three-game winning streak ended here Tuesday when Salem Senators, erstwhile Western International League leaders, edged out Syl Johnson’s nine, 5-4, in 10 innings.
Ted Gullic, former Portland Beaver outfielder, who took over as manager of the Salem team for the late Frisco Edwards, made an auspicious debut by singling home the winning run in the extra frame. George Vico and Al Summers had singled previously.
WEIRD FIELDING
Gullic did himself proud earlier in the game, too, when he caused Ray Orteig, who suffered his first loss of the season, to balk and scored one of the Salem runs.
There were seven extra base blows in the game and bit of weird fielding, the Caps scored two runs in the sixth when a pair of Salem outfielders collided.
Steve Gerkin started on the mound for the Senators, but was relieved in the 10th by Paul Soderburg.
Alex Palica is expected to toe the Vancouver hill in the second game of the eight-game series tonight. Lou Estes, the new Capilano third sacker, will break into the lineup sometime this week, too.

TACOMA, May 28—A pitching duel between Joe Kralovich of Yakima and Ritchie Colombo of Tacoma gave Yakima the first game of a series, 1 to 0.
Yakima broke through in the eighth inning on singles by Bill Elliott, Harlond Clift and Bill Garbe.
Yakima ......... 000 000 010—1 8 0
Tacoma ........ 000 000 000—0 6 2

SPOKANE, May 28—Spokane's Milt Cadinha shutout the tail end Victoria Athletics 5 to 0 on two hits in the opening game of a seven game series.
The victory was the slim right-hander's fifth without a set-back as he fanned six and walked only two. His mates got the A's Al Raimondi for 12 blows, but could only bunch them in two frames.
Victoria .......... 000 000 000—0 2 5
Spokane ......... 100 002 20x—5 12 3
